Easter Disaster

April 5th, 2007 by Jen Love

I was really excited to share with the world my first felted Easter basket. The first of many baskets designed by me that every mom would have to have for their child. But instead I ended up with this: a floppy bag with no shape, that does not curve in, that does not look like a basket! I should not have been as frustrated as I was considering I did not use a pattern, by say, those who have actually successfully made a basket. So Candace and I decided to try and come up with some other uses to salvage this attempt, most involving our favorite models (and me…). Here’s what we came up with:

The mini messenger bag-

A taco holder, to keep your lap clean-

A trough for snacks-

The Easter bonnet- (yes, Candace you can borrow it Sunday, alright!)

The toddler arm sling-

What do you think? Have I cornered a new market with any of these?
Better luck next year!

the arm sling!! see, if he falls down while searching for easter eggs, you will be ready! toooo funny!
last year at the fiber festival i saw someone making felted baskets with a ball..like a soccer ball or something! it was pretty cool. i think they were wet felting pure roving though…not knitted yarn.

    loves!

Well, I think it looks cute even though it didn’t turn out sturdy enough to be a basket. Although you could line it with something else to give it form… maybe? But you sure did turn it into a fun photo shoot! YAY!

Am loving the trough for snacks!

I’m so glad that you show us your mistakes too! I have a few things that I have made, that will NEVER be used (or seen) by anyone.

And I love watching this site grow. Now the bloglines subscribers count is up to 70, I remember when it was only around 10 or so. Great Job Ladies!!!

I think it is cute. I went looking for a basket patterns after I saw yours. Put some Easter grass in it and go for it!

I still think it cute too! I especially love the taco. hmm… now I want a real taco!

I love it!!! MMM I think I’m in the mood for tacos now:) It still looks like a basket to me. Here is an idea, take a needle and ribbon(1/4″) and make a running stich around the top and then pull bring it together. Tie a bow and you’ll have a basket:)

the taco holder did look like a great idea… perhaps you should give Taco Bell a buzz with the plans!! at any rate, the toddler is just too adorable!!
