Throwing another “school” idea out there

August 2nd, 2007 by Candace

We had so much success with the crochet school that we’re thinking of doing an embroidery school to begin next Tuesday, August 14. Before all the legwork is done, we just wanted to see who would be interested in something like this. It would follow the same format – general introduction, weekly lessons, and fun homework assignments with a giveaway at the end – except Candace will be leading this school. So if you would be interested in learning this type of craft, please let us know in the comments. Thanks so much!

i’d definitely be all for an embroidery class group here, and i’d most likely link to it like a mad thing on my website, as well!

I’m in! I can definitely use some help with new stitch ideas as you know I only know one. ;) I’ll let my embroidering friends know.

I would love an embroidery school! I found your crochet classes a bit late, but I did use them to learn the basic stitches (and I’m sure i’ll be back for some of the more advanced ones as well). I have really wanted an excuse to get some embroidery in – thanks!!

  20. Sue Says:

I would love to learn more about embroidery. I found your crochet classes just a week ago but learned a lot though I have crocheted some for years. Thank you!

  21. Liz Says:

I would love it! The crochet has been awesome and I am quite possibly going to actually finish my afghan, which means you are a motivating teacher!

  22. crafty carolinagirl Says:

I just requested a book at the library on embroidery. I know your lessons will help me more than any book. Plus, I do cross-stitch so I am hoping I’ll grasp this faster than I did crochet. Count me in!

  23. Ashley Says:

Another YESYESYES vote for embroidery school!!!

  24. Nikki Says:

    Yes-absolutely!

  25. Jenny Says:

I learned to crochet about 3 years ago, but decided it would be nice to have a structured look at what I’d learned. I discovered I’d learned a few things wrong, and now doing them correctly has made all the difference! I plan to go back through it a bit at a time again, just to cement things.

I’m not sure I’ve got the patience for embroidery, but if you end up with a “class queue” I’d definitely like to nominate knitting!

  26. AmyH Says:

    Yes, yes, yes!!!

  27. Sarah L. Says:

Yes! I don’t think I’ve posted here before, and haven’t actually *used* the crochet lessons yet (stuck on a large knitting project ATM), but definitely plan on coming back here in the future. Embroidery is something I’ve never tried but am very interested in learning it as well.

  28. Dawn Says:

I’m not into embroidery but will keep watching for a knitting class.

    Thanks again Heather.

  34. oh amanda Says:

Would it be simple enough for a complete newbie? And will we be graded?

  35. Jen Says:

That would be wonderful! I’ve been doing embroidery off and on for ages but figure there are always new tips and ways to do things to pick up. :)

  36. Emma Says:

Well, I really wanted to learn knitting, but that’s ok, embroidery will be good too!

ooooh, an embroidery class would be fun! i’ve never been able to get the hang of those french knots! : ) i was excited about the crochet class, too, but i didn’t get very far in the lessons… i keep meaning to go back and learn, but i always have something else going on. they’re bookmarked, so someday! : )

  40. Melissa Says:

I would do it! Just what I need! I have all the stuff bought but I need a class.

  67. Stacy/Creativemuse Says:

I would love to join you I found you from Elemental Stitches blog! Woo hoo! I am a life learner! and this I’m sure wont disappoint

  68. rose_michelle Says:

It’s definitely something I’d like to try.

  69. rose_michelle Says:

When the class gets started will we have time to order materials or will the instructor assume we have easy access? I am a military spouse and there is little outside of the installation so any craft materials I have to get are either ordered or I wait until we go to Houston, about once every two months.

  70. Emma Says:

Is there a supply list of what we’ll need? I don’t go shopping often (once every few months to the city) and I’m going this weeks so would like to be prepared.

  71. Beverly Says:

I just found your website and I am so excited you are having the embroidery lessons. This site was given by one of the Pat Sloan group. Looking forward to the lessons.
