Kid’s Paper Table Cover

To make eating at the “kids table” seem like a more fun idea, I wanted to create a special spot decorated just for them. This would be great for Thanksgiving or family meals and if it’s messy when they are done, just throw it away! It would also be fun to stamp the child’s name at their place, or let them color in the stamps or draw on the paper if the meal is done and you want them to stick around a little longer with the family.

Supplies needed:
Craft paper, brown or white traditionally, but any color
Rubber stamps
Stamp ink
Tape

I went ahead and taped the runner to the bottom of the table to make it easier to stamp. Then I created a pattern around the paper with the pumpkin, leaf, acorn, and swirl of wind stamps in different colors. Obviously my boy couldn’t stay away from my display.

Or, flip it over and let them draw all over the other side… cute idea, but I really worry these days about the “just throw it away…” concept. Why not rinse it off, let it dry and use it again? Why not recycle it? Craft paper is just as recyclable and reusable as a paper bag or a pizza box. I know it may sound extreme, but I think we really have to be careful about setting the example of “just throw it away” with our children, especially at the holidays. You could make this same project with an old sheet and “just throw it in the wash” and pull it out every Thanksgiving, look back on it fondly at all those scribbles and such that could last generations! Stepping off my soapbox now…

Wow….I think it’s a cute idea. It would work for so many things. Love the display and how cute is your little boy! ;)

Thanks Denise! RECYCLE!! We recycle everything I just had my doubts about getting the mashed potatoes and gravy out well enough to use it again, but will try it. And the sheet is a great idea.

This table cover would work really well for any theme or birthday too! There are so many games you could make using this too.
