HELP needed: Identifying Vintage Fabric!
June 2nd, 2008 by Jen LoveI bought a pair of vintage curtains at an antique shop and want to use them in my kitchen. But what seemed like 2 really long panels at the store are only enough to span 2 of my 3 windows.
So I am asking for HELP in any of these ways!
1) You have some of this fabric in a bag from grandma and you would like to send it to me (or sell it to me)!
2) You have seen it for sale somewhere and how to contact the shop.
3) You know of any website that will help you find the pattern/number/code to identify old fabric so you can look it up to buy. I have tried to look for any such sight or discussion board but they are mostly about identifying the type of fabric (ie. wool, wool blend…)
I know this may be a long-shop but any suggestions or leads would be great! Thanks!

Not quite the answer you’re looking for but you could make bigger panels by putting a stripe of matching fabric down either side to make them fit if you can’t find the match

Wow, that is quite the quest.

Have you considered using spoonflower to reproduce the fabric you need? I guess you would have to make sure it is old enough so you could reproduce it w/o copyright issues. Or however all of that works. Just a thought.

One place to look for information on vintage fabrics are the folk who date and appraise quilts. They seem to know everything about manufactured household fabrics and where to get more of them.

Maybe you could add a ruffle out of lace or eyelet or even plain fabric?

The print looks like it came from a flour sack. The person that suggested talking to a quilt specialist might be able to help you. You could search Ebay for flour sack towels.
Hope you find what you are looking for. . .you never know!
