Throwing another school idea out there

December 7th, 2007 by Heather

We’ve done a learn to crochet school and an embroidery school.

Now who would like to do a learn to knit school?

I just want to make sure the interest is there before I put all the work into it. I think it will be slightly different in style than the learn to crochet school, but the basic idea (weekly lessons and projects) will be the same.

It wont start until after the holidays, but let me know if this is something you would be interested in by leaving a comment :D

Since I am the first one to comment on the post, I can tell how glad I could be, if you give us a knit scjool. I loved every project and lesson from the crochet and embroidery school. I am sure I am going to learn a lot too. Thank you in advance for your care and work.

  2. tina Says:

I know (mostly) how to knit but I would be interested to learn more and get project ideas :)

  3. CJ :) Says:

I would love it. I have never been able to master knitting.

  4. Margaret Says:

As that is my next crafting goal, I would be thrilled. Although I might not have time to participate until after the holidays… The beauty of the internet to have tutorials and schools to do at will!

  5. Jill Says:

    Fabulous idea!

  6. Peggy Says:

I’d love a knitting school. I just started leaning to cast on (again) yesterday. Perfect timing.

  7. carol Says:

That would be great! I like CJ can not seem to get the idea. It would help greatly to have somewhere to go back to time and time again. Thank you for all the hard work you do for us.

  8. Cara Says:

Horray! I would LOVE a knit school! I reference the crochet and embroidery school all the time. :) Plus I’ve never been able to get the hang of using both hands with the needles.

  9. Ally Says:

I would love, love, love a knitting school. I have been trying to teach myself but have been struggling.

This tiny swatch took me 9-10 hours:

You can tell I need help! :)

  10. Jenn Says:

Me! Me! I used your crochet school as a reference after I’d already been crocheting for 2 years, and learned a ton of things! I just learned to knit, but I only know a few things and would LOVE to learn more!

  11. Teri Says:

Oh, me, too! I wanna get my learn on witchoo!

I bought the viking helmet pattern from Bella Knitting 5 months ago, before my niece was born, thinking I’d learn to knit within a 6-month timeframe and have a cool gift to give her. Pshah! I still haven’t bought any knitting needles!

  12. Sarah Says:

I’ve been waiting for a knitting school since you ladies started the lessons! I wish I’d been able to follow with the embroidery and crochet schools, but real school got in the way…and I’ve wanted to learn to knit for so long!

  13. Gene Says:

I’ve been wanting to learn how to knit though I haven’t mastered my crocheting yet but I also want to make stuff with knitting. Please, make a lesson for this as well.

  14. Erin Says:

I’d be up for it! I can knit, but I haven’t progressed much further than scarves and the occasional cat toy.

  15. Rachel Says:

Me me me! I have always wanted to learn!

  16. Marie Says:

I’ll add my yes, yes, yes, please, please, please do it!

  17. Momala Says:

I’ve been wanting to lean to knit!

  18. terpkristin Says:

I’d be very interested!! I know the basics of the knit and the purl, but I run into problems of either not pulling tightly enough or pulling too tight and then getting frustrated and giving up. Having a “planned” lesson and others doing it at the same time would probably help me stick to it. :) I’d love to see this!!!

  19. EmmaNadine Says:

    Yes, please!

  20. stacey Says:

Oh, I would appreciate it so much! I haven’t done any of your other schools, but the knitting one would be one that I would be very interested in. I have tried to teach myself, and while I have yet to buy “Knitting for Dummies” that is sometimes how I feel! :)

  21. Tab Says:

I would absolutely be interested in a learn to knit school. I have tried a few times, but never quite gotten the hang of it. After the holidays would be perfect. It’s still really cold here, so I don’t mind having yarn around me. And I should have a bit more free time. I can’t wait!

  22. kayaitch Says:

yes PLEASE! yesyesyes and furthermore, yes!

  23. caley Says:

I can knit, but I’d be interested in the school because there is ALWAYS more to learn.

  24. Crafty carolinagirl Says:

Yes definitely. My new year’s resolution is to learn to knit!

  25. Linda Says:

Oh super idea I would love that!!! I also knit but have a LOT to learn still want to graduate one day past just knitting bags!!!! hehehe!!

  26. Amilia Says:

I Would love to join !!!

  27. Misaki Says:

I completely enjoyed your embroidery lessons. They were clear and descriptive and easy to follow. I have incorporated several techniques into my sewing projects after viewing the series.

I have mentioned to the hubby that I would like to also attempt knitting, but he is afraid I will run out and buy every book from Amazon.

So, he and I think it would be an awesome idea.

    *hugs*

  28. Jennifer Says:

I really enjoyed doing the embroidery school and would like knitting school lessons as well.

  29. Breigh Says:

    MEEEEEEE! ME ME ME!

I’m a lurker but I’m coming out of the woodwork to say I’d love this. I have a few of those stitch and bitch books but I find it difficult because I’m in Europe and a lot of the brands and measurements don’t match.

When I was home in Canada last month my mother taught me to knit and purl so I’ve been making baby blankets… but what I REALLY want to learn is how to knit socks. I look it up online but either I have trouble figuring out what yarn to get here or something.

I really need an idiot proof, universal explaination on how to knit socks! haha

  30. Zuleika Says:

I’d be interested as well. I can knit, but not as good as I can crochet. So I’m sure there will be plenty of things I could learn from this. Thanks so much! :-)

  31. Becky Says:

    I’d like to do this.

  32. Mary Jo Jones Says:

I think this is a fabulous idea and look forward to learning…you do such a great job! Thanks for all that you share!

  33. T Says:

    Heather,

I have been waiting for the Learn to Knit school and would absolutely LOVE it if you would do it!

  34. renee Says:

Yes please – I’d love a learn to knit school. I’ve been trying to teach myself without much success.

  35. Tiff@Three Peas in a Pod Says:

I learned to knit and crochet when I was 16 (about 20 years ago) and have not picked up needles or hooks since then. I would love to learn all over again!!

  36. hannita Says:

I’ve done scarves and that’s it. I would love to learn more about different weights of yarn and what to do with it too.

  37. Sandra Says:

    YES!

  38. Maru Says:

I know how-to cast, purl and knit. I’d like to learn finishing techniques and about different stitches combinations.
I will not have time to participate until after the holidays. If this is your plan I’m in.
    Thanks in advance.

  39. Long time lurker, first time poster Says:

    Yes, please!

  40. Angela, MotherCrone Says:

This would be great. I am looking for new ways to cast on and to get past the beginner stage!

  41. The Creatist Says:

would love it!! :d i think that’s a fabulous idea.

  42. Amy Says:

I would love it. I taught myself and have only made scarves.

  43. ellen Says:

Oh me! I am absolutely dreadful at knitting.

  44. Julie Says:

Count me in! I knit simple things, but my technique isn’t all that great and I’d love the flexibility of online lessons!!!! Great idea!

  45. destiny Says:

i or my boyfriend would love to!

  46. h Says:

    yes yes yes yes.
    I’d love it.

In fact i’m just trying on my own and it would be wonderful to find your help and good tips.

    ooohhouuuurrayyyyy!!!!!

  47. la Carter Says:

I would love to learn how to knit. It is one of those things I never quite learned how to do.

  48. Lori Says:

    Count me in!

  49. mrs atkinson Says:

An online knitting school would be lovely. My mum has taught me the basics but her patience is as fine as 2-ply baby wool and she knits so fast her fingers go all blurry and it makes my eyes hurt.

  50. Steph Says:

Oh yes please! I asked my mother to teach me but she has no idea how to go at learners speed so I learnt nothing.

  51. Lindsay Says:

    Yes please.

  52. chronicler Says:

I would love to learn to knit! Yes. Yes.!

  53. Guin Says:

I’d be pleased as all get out. I can do knit stitches, but I keep forgetting how to purl (and I really want to learn knitting on a circular needle one day, for sock making…sigh…)

  54. Jennifer Gray Says:

Oh goodness sign me up…I want to learn to knit so bad!

  55. ladycerci Says:

    sounds good to me !

  56. Anna Says:

    Yes, yes, yes!

  57. Sarah Says:

That would be wonderful! I really want to learn how to knit!

  58. Karla Says:
