Just One Skein
August 15th, 2007 by Jen LoveI received this cute orange speckled yarn in a swap and am looking for a pattern that calls for only one skein. Does any one have suggestions for one skein wonders?
(Knitting only please, I’m not quite a crocheter yet!)
It is: 100% cotton mercerized, 100 grams, 140 yards

How about a string bag? Here are a couple places to get you started:

http://dorkybestfriend.typepad.com/blog/2007/03/the_string_bag.html Says you need 250 yrds, but you could make a small bag!

You should go look at the book “One skein” in your library; almost all the patterns are knitted and only use one 100 gram skein of yarn (though I thought “regular” skeins were 50g). Hope that helps:) I checked on amazon and there were other books that were aimed for one skein projects.
Otherwise I just completed a cowl of my own design using just about 50g yarn (so you could make two;). If you’re interested I could send you a picture of what it looks like and instructions. (Basically just cast on 84sts on size 4,5mm 40cm circular needles; (my gauge on 4,5mm needles was 19stsX25rows=10X10cm) and knit in the round until desired height of cowl is reached; I knit mine 30cm high so it’s nice and warm).
All the best,
Christina

With one skein of yarn if it isn’t to thin. you can make the cutes fingerless gloves. there are patterns allover the web that you can even modify to use all kinds of different yarns. My favorite is this free patern I found at http://www.moonarts.com/blog/free_patterns/pages/potluck-mittens-print.htm. The name of the website is Midnight Knitter.

Compact connector design as reduces bulk and eases unnecessary strain that can damage headphone connections and ports.
